Sr. Director, Innovation & Technologies

South Florida PBS is looking for an individual to be responsible for advancing the vision, strategy and thinking methodologies used to innovate new products and services, improve existing procedures and create a culture of innovation within the organization. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Vice President, Content & Station Manager, will develop and lead SFPBS’ innovation strategy and roadmap by setting goals, identifying new opportunities and developing plans for their successful execution, while ensuring alignment with the current and future needs of SFPBS. Will identify and assess new opportunities. Conduct market research and identify trends that could positively impact SFPBS. Responsible for designing, developing and executing innovative solutions, products and services across a variety of applications, platforms and environments. Will work to develop unique interactive programming for the Bailey Cultural Arts Center by integrating technology into educational and performance spaces.

Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering/Technology, Media Production/Communications or relevant field of study. Combination of equivalent education and prior experience in field will be considered. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product development or innovation. Proven track record of success driving innovation. Experience working in a broadcast facility or in the broadcast field preferred. Familiarity with television operations and content creation. Proven experience in leading a diverse team to meet organizational goals, as well as effectively managing complex projects, budgets, and setting and accomplishing goals. An understanding of concepts such as RPA, blockchain, AI, machine learning, and cognitive computing. Knowledge, understanding and compliance with FCC, PBS, and CPB preferred. Prior experience as a pioneering role-holder within an organization is a plus.

Director, Immersive Media

South Florida PBS is looking for an individual to be responsible for curating, creating and implementing immersive content across XR (Extended Reality) platforms, including the Igloovision platform and in a dedicated immersive studio space. A key focus of this role is to explore and harness the educational potential of immersive technologies, while ensuring alignment with the strategic plan of SFPBS which includes a strong focus on music and neuroarts. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Vice President, Content & Station Manager, will identify opportunities to collaborate with highly regarded creators of immersive content, as well as educators, technicians and like-minded community organizations, with the goal of providing immersive content that is innovative, impactful and sustainable.

Bachelor’s degree in Immersive Media Design, Computer Science, Multimedia Production, Interactive Media or related field. Combination of equivalent education and prior experience in field will be considered. Minimum of 7 years of experience in immersive content creation and storytelling. Proficiency in XR technologies and a strong understanding of immersive studio equipment. Familiarity with , the Igloovision platform, as well as television operations. Strong understanding of the educational potential of immersive media. Familiarity with 360-degree sound including spatial audio technologies. Experience utilizing music in innovative ways to enhance immersive experiences. Capability to lead cross-functional teams in content production. A strong understanding of AI and its potential uses in interactive immersive spaces.

Director, Music & Performance Content

South Florida PBS seeks an individual responsible for creating and executing SFPBS’s music and performance content strategy, ensuring it aligns with the SFPBS mission and strategic plan. Under the general supervision of the Sr. Vice President of Content & Station Manager, the Director, Music & Performance Content will integrate music and performance content across SFPBS platforms, from broadcast to digital to live and immersive experiences.  Conceptualizes new programs and products. Curates content for various platforms. Supervises music-related content production, manages budgets, schedules, and quality control, ensuring successful project execution. Provides artistic direction to musicians, performers, and production teams. Directs and/or produces performance specials and segments adhering to all PBS editorial standards.  Drives audience engagement across broadcast, digital and live platforms, ensuring content resonates with target audiences and collaborates with the SFPBS Marketing, Communications & Education Outreach staff to develop innovative educational programs and initiatives promoting music education and appreciation.

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts, Multimedia Production, or a related field.  Combination of equivalent education and prior experience in field will be considered. Minimum 8-10 years in music and performance content production, with expertise in diverse music genres and performing arts disciplines.  Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of leading creative teams. Demonstrated experience curating and programming music and performance content across various platforms. Proficient in project and budget management.  Passion for music education and promoting the arts. Live event production and management experience a plus. Proficiency in media production tools and software with an adaptable approach to technology.  Strong communicator with excellent public speaking and presentation skills.  Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of audio and video recording equipment, editing software, and other multimedia production tools.

Multimedia Producer – Health Channel

South Florida PBS is looking for a Multimedia Producer to join our team as an Independent Contractor for a Health Channel project to develop and produce a daily television program that focuses on medical topics, involves an expert answering questions from the audience, streams live on social media platforms and airs on a broadcast channel. The initial contract will run through June 30, 2024, with the potential for extension based on project needs and funding availability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical topics and the ability to produce engaging and informative television plus a strong track record of producing high-quality live streaming and social media content. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, producing, and managing live streaming events and short segments for social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook as well as supervising the live TV show and managing the questions coming in from the audience.

The Multimedia Producer is responsible for developing and producing a daily television program, booking guests and experts for the show, writing and producing scripts for the show, overseeing all aspects of production including the live-streaming on social media channels. Will work with the host and crew to create a high-quality program that is both informative and entertaining. Produces short segments for social media platforms, including writing scripts, editing footage, and adding graphics and music. Works with the social media team to promote live streaming events and social media segments.

The right candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience producing television programs. Strong understanding of medical topics and of the latest trends and best practices in live streaming and social media. A minimum of three years of experience in live streaming and social media production on social media platforms such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and Twitch. Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills, with a strong focus on details, ability to multitask, clearly communicate with team members and supervisors, and follow through. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must. Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Interactive Media or a related field preferred.

COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

Promo Producer

South Florida PBS is looking for a creative and innovative thinker to become our new Promo Producer. Under the general supervision of the Sr. VP, Marketing, Communications & Education Outreach, the Promo Producer will be responsible for the development, writing, shooting, directing, and editing of promos for South Florida PBS’ Channels (WPBT, WXEL and Health Channel) for on-air events and programing promotions, social media marketing campaigns and digital marketing campaigns.

This position will assume creative decision-making authority for decisions relating to promo productions. Will research and prepare materials and scripts, interview guests, coordinate and supervise in-house and remote productions and schedules and develop concepts and ideas, while collaborating with the Marketing and Communications Team.

Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy interacting with others. Proven expertise in writing, producing, and video editing, coupled with keen attention to editorial detail, is crucial for successful promotional campaigns. Knowledge working with Adobe Suite products, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition Media Encoder and Microsoft Office programs. Experience with online video platforms, and social media applications. A creative thinker with a proactive approach, strong organizational abilities, and a knack for journalistic standards. The ability to work under pressure and direct on-location crews to capture shots that enhance the promo storyline is key. Detail-oriented professional with a passion for creativity and initiative.

High school graduate or equivalent. Coursework in Mass Communications preferred. Formal training in television production.

Freelance TV Production Audio Engineer Opportunities

Freelance Television Production Audio Engineer opportunities are occasionally available for South Florida PBS productions.  This freelance position is responsible for ensuring high-quality audio during live and prerecorded television broadcasts.  Responsibilities include configuring and setting up microphones, audio mixers, amplifiers, and other equipment required for the broadcast.  Performs sound checks before the live broadcast to ensure audio levels are balanced and clear.  Controls and adjusts audio levels during the broadcast to maintain clarity and consistency. This includes mixing audio from various sources, such as microphones, pre-recorded segments, and music.  Proficiency in operating audio equipment and software is essential. Knowledge of industry-standard audio consoles, microphones, signal processing equipment, and digital audio workstations (DAWs) is a must.  Must be reliable, organized, and self-motivated.   Candidate will be contacted if their skills and experience match an open opportunity.

DEVELOPMENT

Major Gifts Officer - North

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Full-time position, directly responsible for devising and managing comprehensive and effective strategies for the acquisition of major and planned gifts from capable and qualified current and potential donors including working to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit and steward individual donors, prospects and family foundations. This includes devising effective strategic planning and face to face meetings to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial support to fuel SFPBS’ mission and strategic plans. Manages a fluid portfolio of 125 to 150 current and potential major donors and prospects with a primary focus on Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

College graduate with emphasis on non-profit business management including major gifts fund raising, public relations, or equivalent comparable work experience. Candidates with a CFRE are preferred. Excellent writing skills are essential. Minimum of five to seven years of proven success in building strong, effective philanthropic relationships-including prospect identification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Specific experience and knowledge with emphasize on a successful track record in the areas of non-profit management; major gifts; planned giving; annual giving programs; capital campaign management; foundation funding; and event planning and coordination.

Experience with Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferable.

MEMBERSHIP

Producer, On-Air Fundraising

South Florida PBS is looking for an organized and driven individual to coordinate and execute all production for quarterly live television fundraising campaigns and ongoing promotional interstitials and initiatives throughout the year. This includes writing scripts and editing footage as needed, coordinating hosts for live appeals, conducting research and making all studio and travel arrangements necessary. Helps conceptualize and executes ancillary fundraising productions/campaigns to generate increased viewership and revenue. Assists in the development and execution of special events. Works with supervisor to determine and maintain budgets.

College degree with major coursework in field of mass communications, journalism, the arts or equivalent experience. Three to five years experience as a television producer or associate producer. Working knowledge of linear and non-linear video editing and computer skills. Script writing experience a must. Knowledge of production within a fundraising environment a plus. Must be a multitasker.

Member Services Representative

Excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. The Member Services Representative will report directly to the VP of Membership and is responsible for promptly assisting customers, members, and contributors with inquiries via phone, mail, or email. Duties encompass responding to queries, complaints, and comments. Key responsibilities include managing customer inquiries, overseeing member accounts, coordinating with vendors for membership-related processes, supporting the SFPBS Passport streaming service, processing matching gift donations, maintaining accurate database information, handling sustainers' accounts, supporting membership events, overseeing volunteers during live nights, acting as a backup for database connections, and participating in on-air fundraising campaigns.

The ideal candidate should hold a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a minimum of three years of customer service experience. Must exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and both oral and written communication abilities. Professionalism is essential, demanding a high standard of conduct, communication, and presentation, embodying SFPBS’s values and maintaining a polished and respectful demeanor in all interactions. They should be adaptable, work well under pressure, manage time effectively, and showcase strong computer skills. This role may require extended hours during fundraising campaigns.

Customer Services Representative (Freelance/PT)

Excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Responsible for assisting with support activities in the Member Services Department. Will assist in providing high quality member service support via telephone, e-mail, mail and in person. Will work independently and as part of a team to resolve a diverse set of issues for viewers and members. Manages members account regarding inquiries, billing issues, premiums, data entry and more. Assist with and may be required to attend on-air pledge drives, concerts and special events designed to cultivate and strengthen relationship with members and viewers. During campaigns will supervise and train volunteers as needed. Assists in the maintenance and accuracy of all entries into all associated databases as well as the online donation website.

Ideal candidate will be a high school graduate with one year of customer service experience. Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must! Good oral and written communication and people skills with a keen ability to relate well with others is essential to this position. This position requires a flexible schedule; will work occasional nights and weekends. Must have good comprehensive and documentation skills, strong time management skills and must maintain excellent attendance.

This role will assist with HR functions to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of HR processes within the organization. The Part-Time HR Coordinator will work under the direction of the VP, Human Resources and the guidance of the HR Manager.

The HR Coordinator will provide general administrative support to the HR department and will maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, job details, and benefits. Supports in the organization and maintenance of HR records, ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations and company policies. Assists with the recruitment process which may include posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews. Works together with the HR team to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new hires. Helps coordinate and assist with All Staff and Department Head Meetings, team-building activities, and employee events. Provides information to employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs. Generates HR reports as required, including employee headcount, turnover, and other HR metrics.

High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative or HR-related role. Knowledge of HR processes, employment laws, and regulations. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent verbal and writing skills, be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines and follow through. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently. The ability to deal well with people from all walks of life is a must.
