On August 12, 1955, WPBT2 went on the air without a penny of tax money having been spent. There was no budget, no income, no paid staff and even the station’s transmitter and antenna had been donated. The broadcast schedule was two hours a day, five days a week, with summers off. Sixty years later, WPBT2 is South Florida’s Flagship PBS station, broadcasting engaging, educational and entertaining content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across three television channels, as well as online, on mobile and OTT devices like Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV.

Manager, Arts Content

Do you have a passion for the Arts? Do you want to shine a light on the incredible artists in South Florida, and connect our community to world?

WPBT2 seeks self-motivated leader to develop and execute a content strategy focused on telling South Florida’s arts stories across WPBT’s various platforms including broadcast, online, mobile and social media. Additional responsibilities include managing a team of resources to produce arts related content; build relationships with arts contacts and organizations in the community; identify and assist in cultivation of arts-related funding and create content for online engagement and audience building.

Graduate level education in the arts, education background and Ph.D. preferred, combined with a minimum of 5 to 10 years relevant work experience, including experience working in arts education and with arts organizations. Experience working in content environments and communicating with non-arts engaged audiences. Established contacts in the South Florida art community. Proficiency with various digital technologies; various social media channels, Microsoft Office programs and other basic development and management applications, including online video platforms required. Creative, innovative, self-starter with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the art world.

Digital Content Editor

Are you a master of social media? A maven of all things online? Want to work for one of the most innovative media companies in the digital space?

WPBT2 seeks a creative, multi-tasker to manage content across WPBT2’a online properties, including social media, mobile applications and e-marketing. Responsibilities include creating content for online engagement and audience building; providing editorial feedback on content; managing social media communications; and facilitating e-marketing campaigns and materials.

Minimum 1 to 3 years relevant work experience. Experience working in content environments such as digital publications, news organizations, media companies, etc. Social media engagement, content promotion, and understanding of current digital trends required. Proficiency with various content management systems and various social media channels with demonstrated ability to manage multiple technologies at once. Proficiency with Adobe Suite products and other basic development management applications. Familiarity with online video platforms; CSS and HTML preferred; video editing experience a plus. Multimedia Editor

Are you a shooter, editor looking for an opportunity to tell your own stories, while working on quality broadcast and online productions?

This role is the primary resource dedicated to ensuring our digital distribution of video content is engaging, entertaining & editorially aligned.

Development & Membership

Director, New Business Development

WPBT2 seeks innovative individual to lead efforts to identify, develop and solidify partnerships that drive new business revenue and business opportunities in support of WPBT2 and V-me TV, the only Spanish broadcast PBS TV station created for the U.S. Hispanic market.

Works collaboratively and strategically to identify, recruit, nurture and close large strategic partnership opportunities and revenue projects for both WPBT2 and V-me TV. Cultivates new business, corporations and individuals as underwriters of WPBT2 and V-me TV's programs including local productions, local acquisitions and special station events. Generates new forms of revenue which relate directly or indirectly to existing facilities and services and devises marketing plans and materials to attract venture partners/clients, from traditional broadcast services and online applications, to creating new initiatives with current and upcoming technologies including the coordination and implementation of apps. Negotiates complex transactions and coordinates strategic initiatives with select partners. Creates and executes business plans to ensure strategic partnerships support the overall business goals of WPBT2 and V-me TV.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience and demonstrated experience in developing strategic partnerships with a focus on business development. Development Manager, Major Gifts and Foundations

Works closely with senior development team to develop and implement strategies and programs for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors and mid-level giving. Directly oversees and manages a portfolio of foundation and government grants. Identifies, researches and cultivates new potential funding sources.

Marketing

Multi Media Communications & Outreach Specialist

Responsible for assisting with the organization, planning & execution of multi-media communications, public relations campaigns & station outreach events. Works with team members to market & promote WPBT2’s program services through multi media platforms including social media & other emerging opportunities. Creates content for WPBT2 blogs & social media platforms in support of events, programs & marketing strategies.

Produces station video interstitials as needed/requested. Interacts with clients, contacts, committee boards & logistic providers throughout the coordination of the events. High school graduate or equivalent. College graduate with course work in Public Relations or Journalism preferred. Minimum one to two years’ experience in public relations & event coordination. Ability to write concisely & creatively. Computer literate with experience using social media platforms.

Internship Opportunities

WPBT2 provides students with an opportunity to combine work experience and professional development to enhance their formal education. Our program serves to reinforce and strengthen the students' personal values and career objectives through an improved understanding of themselves and the work environment. We provide practical work experience to balance the students' theoretical training and allow students to meet and learn from professionals in the field and develop a network of contacts. Areas of openings include, but are not limited to: Accounting, Engineering, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Interactive Media, Marketing, Production, and Programming.

To be considered for an internship students must be enrolled in college/university in which their coursework requires internship hours.
