On August 12, 1955, WPBT2 went on the air without a penny of tax money having been spent. There was no budget, no income, no paid staff and even the station’s transmitter and antenna had been donated. The broadcast schedule was two hours a day, five days a week, with summers off. Sixty years later, WPBT2 is South Florida’s Flagship PBS station, broadcasting engaging, educational and entertaining content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across three television channels, as well as online, on mobile and OTT devices like Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV.

Freelance Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants needed for various WPBT2 productions, including public affairs, educational, arts and science programming. Seeking candidates with experience in studio and/or field productions. Successful candidates will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and knowledge of social media platforms. Must be reliable, organized, and self-motivated. Assistant Director, Fundraising & On-Air Marketing
WPBT2 is looking for a skilled leader with a passion for fundraising and production. Organized and driven, this individual will oversee and manage the execution of all direct response initiatives and programs. Lead and grow all member stewardship programs, create reports and analyze data to identify fundraising trends; will implement, streamline and improve fundraising and cultivation initiatives on different platforms. Participation in determining strategies for on-air fundraising campaigns including promotional, branding and messaging as well as special incentives and events. Provides guidance to the on-air producer. Assists in the creation of pledge-related programming. Helps develop annual plan for all membership activities, manages budgets and supports the Sr. VP of Development & Marketing. Leads and mentors membership staff.
College degree in Business, Marketing, or Public Relations or equivalent. Five years experience in membership, donor or client acquisition and retention, direct marketing, fundraising (or related field) preferred. Two years of supervisory and project management experience a must. Demonstrated ability in developing and managing campaigns and budgets. Excellent creative and writing abilities a must. Ability to motivate, direct and empower a diverse staff. Works extended hours during on-air campaigns.

Freelance Account Executive
WPBT2 seeks experienced Account Executive to sell national PR services such as corporate video productions, media relations support, radio services, online and all media distribution to support PR firms and Corporate Communications. Knowledge of news production, B-roll distribution, Satellite Media Tours, will be extremely helpful for this position to be successful. Position collaborates within the sales team, and provides sound counsel and recommendations to clients. You will offer PR services to help drive solutions for clients, and revenue for the company.
The candidate will be responsible for reaching out and making capabilities presentations to PR firms and companies who will use our services. You are a closer of business, and will be responsible for reaching sales targets and goals each month.
The successful candidate is entrepreneurial, resourceful, tenacious, and has a strong understanding of traditional and non-traditional PR tactics and the media landscape; 3-6 years in PR agency experience with clients preferred. We are looking for a candidate with: • Sales experience with a good consultative selling style; • Proven success in building relationships and driving sales results; • Strong presentation skills, with experience working directly with clients and actively participating in client meetings; • Collaborative spirit, results driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities; • High energy.

WPBT2 provides students with an opportunity to combine work experience and professional development to enhance their formal education. We provide practical work experience to balance the students' theoretical training and allow students to meet and learn from professionals in the field and develop a network of contacts. To be considered for an internship students must be enrolled in college/university in which their coursework requires internship hours.
